What Trailers Could Disney Bring to The Super Bowl? – Daily Disney News
02/06/2024

Next weekend Super Bowl 58 will see the defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs square off against the San Francisco 49ers. While people most definitely tune in for the game, the halftime show, and even Taylor Swift, a lot of people are eager for movie trailers. Typically, Disney likes to bring the goods and while at this time, there is no confirmation as to what will be shown, I will be laying out some projects I hear will have spot/trailers and ones I think could make an appearance. Deadpool 3 Deadpool 3 This has been the biggest rumor circulating social media, that said, fans should expect to see the return of the merc with the mouth and a tease of Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine. Now, the question is do they play into Taylor Swift’s presence at the Super Bowl with a tease to her character in the film? If I am a betting I’d say no but do not rule out anything when it comes to a Deadpool marketing campaign. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes The Planet of the Apes franchise returns and Disney is hoping this will be the start of a brand new trilogy, so a massive marketing push is coming. A teaser did debut last year, however, I do expect a brand new trailer and Super Bowl spot will debut. Mufasa: The Lion King Mufasa: The Lion King The upcoming sequel/prequel to 2019s The Lion King comes out in December and while I think a teaser is probably not likely, Disney has footage ready in the form of a teaser, which the studio showed of during at their D23 event in 2022. The first movie made over $1 billion at the global box office, the studio will want to repeat that magic later this year. Inside Out 2 Inside Out 2 This is the project that I hear will get a trailer. Pixar finally had some sort of box office win with Elemental and while numbers aren’t what Pixar wanted in the end, but the film did find its legs at the box office has given the studio a boost of confidence, pair that with the fact the first Inside Out was a box office smash in 2015, the studio will want the world to know this franchise is coming back. What else? Disney does have the Daisy Ridley-led Young Woman and the Sea , which just got put on the theatrical release calendar, but I do not imagine anything will come out for that. A new Alien movie from Disney-owned 20th Century Studios is also set to come out later this year but do not expect to see anything for that film til this Summer. Yes, Walt Disney Animation Studios has a movie coming this year but Disney typically likes to tease those projects in front of their Pixar films, so for those hoping to see anything from their animation side do not get your hopes up. Disney+ projects The streamer is still in its early phase but during the 2020 Super Bowl, Disney+ released a tv spot featuring Marvel Studios’ series WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki . This year, the streamer has big titles coming including X-Men 97 , Descendants: The Rise of Red, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Zombies 4, and likely Star Wars series The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew . Unless, the streamer puts together a tv spot teasing all these projects together, do not expect any individual trailers. Keep in mind, nothing is confirmed and likely will not be confirmed until the day of the big game, so yes, there is a chance [a slim chance] we get nothing, but rest assured I can tell you Disney is bring some goodies. Super Bowl 58 will air live on Sunday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET. The Super Bowl will be broadcast in two different formats, with CBS carrying the traditional broadcast of the game and Nickelodeon airing an exclusive kids- and family-friendly telecast.
