It’s no secret that 2023 was a tough year for Marvel Studios. Despite the stellar success of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , its other releases, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels were not received well critically or commercially. While the decision to only release one MCU film this year clearly shows the studio wants to focus on quality over quantity, a new rumor suggests that further action might have been taken internally to keep the brand afloat. READ: This Upcoming Marvel Series Just Got Another Name Change According to industry insider Daniel RPK, Marvel Studios has decided to limit the amount of risks it takes with its feature projects. As a result, and as of right now, that means that previously planned projects such as Eternals 2 , Captain Marvel 3 , and even Ant-Man 4 are no longer in the works. While no project was ever officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, Eternals 2 had been casually confirmed by Patton Oswalt a few years ago. While there was never any need for a fourth Ant-Man film, it was always a given that Brie Larson would at least get the same trilogy treatment as all the other Marvel heroes. Now, obviously, this news has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios either. And we likely won’t get official confirmation until San Diego Comic-Con this Summer. Given RPK’s track record, however, we are inclined to believe there is some truth her. The news also comes after recent reports that Marvel was “retooling its approach “quietly retooling” itself. What do you this news? Are you bummed that one or any of these films might never see the light of day? Sound off below! SOURCE: Daniel RPK
