Have you ever been on an awesome ride where you feel really enamored by the scenery and the animatronics, feeling as if you’re really part of the imaginary place? This feeling is amazing…and ends up getting ruined by that ONE guest who doesn’t follow the “No Flash Photography Allowed” rule. People seem to forget what “common courtesy” is when they’re on their own vacation. Not only is this rude to the other guests, but is really disrespectful to the cast members who ask before entering the ride.
WHILE you are on a dark-ride, and there are really neat Audio-Animatronics and fun scenery, do not use flash-photography. I am well aware the cast members say this before getting on the attraction, but many guests over-look this simple rule. The flash photography really ruins the experience for others and frustrates everyone. They have this simple rule for a reason. Although the cast members try to make it cute, stating the flash will disturb the animatronics, it really is a disturbance to everyone.
I went on the Haunted Mansion once. Now, the Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides of all time. The ballroom scene especially captivates me, and this ride being my favorite, I enjoy every piece of it while I ride. Well, while taking it all in, some lovely human-being started to take pictures, with her flash still on. I understand if you want to snap a photograph with the flash off, or even if you take a picture and forget the flash so you quickly shut if off and try again. I’m a reasonable person. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened here. The whole ride experience was ruined (I promise you, I am not exaggerating) and I almost went to a cast member complaining about this. Since it is Disneyland, and it’s supposed to be magical, I left it alone. But, I went on again to fix the experience because the flash really just ruined it the time I went on before.
Please don’t be the person to ruin someone’s experience. Even if it is your first time, or your last. It’s rude to everyone, and you never know who else it might affect. I know in my opinion it’s a great, simple rule to have. I know that some may not like this rule, hence why they over-look it, but it really is just general common sense, and it’s a way of being polite.
Just don’t be THAT guy/girl. That’s all us vacationers ask. We don’t even mind if your child screams while on the attraction, just the annoying flash going off every five seconds.
