Disney news, rumors, and round up: February 2024
02/14/2024

I don’t know about you, but January usually feels like the longest month of the year… but once you hit February (which is factually the shortest month of year) time just seems to fly! I’m excited to be going down to Disney World at the end of the month for the Princess race weekends. I’ll be crossing a new resort off my list (Wilderness Lodge) and I’ll also be spending 2 days at Universal for their Mardi Gras celebrations. I can’t wait to share all about it next month! If you didn’t see Disney’s Wish while it was in theaters, it will be coming to blu-ray and DVD on March 12. There’s no date on when it comes to Disney+ yet, but I’d expect it to be around the same time. Country Bear Jamboree in Disney World has temporarily closed and will reopen with new songs and a new show sometime in the summer. Disney Cruise line has released a list of the port adventures that will be available at their new private island, Lookout Cay, where ships will start sailing this summer. Disney has given some of the cabins at Fort Wilderness a makeover and added them as DVC rooms – these will be available for stays starting in July. Elsewhere in Orlando, Universal has announced additional details on the new park they’ll be opening in 2025, Epic Universe. It does look pretty epic! The Pixar Place Hotel in Disneyland (previously Paradise Pier Hotel) has now reopened with its fun new themeing! Disney has released new details on the 2024 Flower and Garden Festival, including the dates. This year, the festival will run from February 28th until May 27th. Disney weddings look pretty incredible, and there are a lot of amazing spots you can get married there. Now they’ve released a new option – couples can now choose to get married in World Celebration Gardens in Epcot, right in front of Spaceship Earth! Disney rumors Disney rumors
Dining // While it took awhile for all of the Disney World restaurants to reopen after the 2020 closure, most of them have returned – but one notable exception is 1900 Park Fare. As a popular character meal, there is certainly some speculation about why it has not yet reopened. Many are guessing that it may be getting a bit of a makeover. Whether that’s new decor or totally new characters and a new experience, I do think we’ll see something a little different once it’s back! Galactic Starcruiser // Of course many people also have ideas about what might happen to the Galactic Starcruiser building. I’ve heard rumors of many things, from it being turned into a dinner show experience, to being used for offices for cast members, to just being used for storage. Epcot festivals // With the dates of the Flower and Garden Festival now announced, one interesting thing to note is that it’s ending a lot earlier than it has the past couple of years. We’ve more recently seen Flower and Garden going until early July, and then Food and Wine festival starting in mid-July. Will we really see approximately two months without an Epcot festival? Or, does this mean Disney will be planning some sort of new summer festival in June-August? Other Disney blogs Other Disney blogs
Mindy at This Fairy Tale Life brings us the new food items coming to Disneyland in 2024. I’m hungry just reading this post! Over at the Disney Tourist Blog, Tom brings us his review of Disney’s smallest hotel room – the duo studio at the Riviera Resort only holds up to 2 people (well, 2 plus an adorable baby!). If you’re booking a Disney cruise, all of the different types of staterooms and categories can be a bit confusing – which should you choose? Well, you could start with this list of Disney Cruise Line staterooms to avoid, as suggested by Everything Mouse. Curious about what it looks like inside one of those bungalows at the Polynesian? Dave at Your First Visit has a photo tour!
